Linux is developed by Linus in 1991, as a free version of Unix. Now, it's an financial organization.

Today, I begin the study of linux. I followed the online courses in edx:

Here's some basic ideas about Linux. 

• Kernel: glue between applications and hardware
• Distribution: a collection of software which make up a Linux OS( Fedora, Debian, SUSE) 
• Boot ??
• Service: programs runs as background
• File system: store/organize files in Linux
• Command line: interface for inputting command from line(bash)
• X Window: Graphic subsystem on nearby systems
• Desktop environment:Graphic interface on the top of OS
• Shell: command line interpreter

A full Linux distribution consists of the kernel plus a number of other software tools for file-related operations, user management, and software package management.
